OUR CHURCH
family
Faith Church is the oldest church in Williston, ND. The church and ministry continues to be a vital part of downtown Williston. It began in 1892 as the First Methodist Episcopal Church. The first church was the log chapel from Ft. Buford. The building was brought to the church location in the winter and was brought down the Missouri River ice on skids pulled by horses. It was too heavy to transport up the river bank, so it was cut into two sections.
The sections were put together at the current church location. In 1905, the church burned to the ground by the KKK. A new church was built in its place. In 1927, this church burned. The resilience of the congregation prevailed and another church was built on the original foundation. This church and addition was completed in 1929.
First Methodist Episcopal Church and Faith Evangelical United Brethren Church merged in 1968 and became Faith United Methodist Church. In 2023, we became part of the Global Methodist Church. The church and congregation have seen many changes to the city of Williston. Faith Church has always sought to minister in the community in any way possible.
The congregation’s desire is to be a witness for Jesus Christ in the community and be the hands and feet of Jesus in Williston and the surrounding area. Faith Church welcomes all people. We are a Christ-centered community, empowered by the Holy Spirit. Our desire is that all people know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and become His disciples.

OUR
mission
Our mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly. In our worship, we desire to surrender to and be fully devoted to one God - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are passionate about what is important to God. Jesus calls those who follow Him to love God wholeheartedly and love their neighbors as themselves.
We will demonstrate to the world the extravagant love of God in the person of Jesus Christ. We have been entrusted with the lifesaving and transforming message that we must share with others. Our witness will be bold, compelling, and fearless. Our mission advances when individuals become fearless. Our mission advances when individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ and join God's mission to make more disciples.
